The Supreme Court today ruled that women candidates can take the National Defense Academy (NDA) exams. The apex court passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Kush Kalra to allow women candidates to take the NDA exam. At the hearing, the military said it was a "policy decision" and that for some reason, women did not have the opportunity to participate. The bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kail and Hrishikesh Roy said the decision was based on "gender discrimination". The bench then passed its interlocutory order to allow female candidates to take part in the NDA exams to be held on September 5.
