Today, on the occasion of Navakhai in Odisha, the state government is going to distribute 'Kalia' assistance to make the farmers smile. However, farmers in Puri district will not get this assistance. The people of the district will have to wait longer for the election ban as the Pipli bypoll is scheduled to be held on 30th of this month.
According to government data chief minister Naveen Patnaik will distribute 'Kalia' assistance at 5.30pm. 2,000/- each for 'Kalia' of 37.75 lakh farmers in the state. It will cost Rs 755 crore from the state government but assistance will not be given to Puri farmers. It is reported to be around Rs 13 crore less.
